In reply to CentOS 5 packages available:
Thanks for the tip; I'll get new packages pushed out shortly.
Re: CentOS 5 packages available
In reply to CentOS 5 packages available:
current revision syslog-ng-2.1.2-1.el5
on CentOS 5.2 install w/o errors. Unfortunatelly there's some minor problem
/etc/init.d/syslog-ng start
Starting syslog-ng: /etc/init.d/syslog-ng: line 56: fail: command not found
it can be fixed: fail -> failure

I'm just glad I'm not alone....
Re: Using mod_auth_mysql for Apache
In reply to Using mod_auth_mysql for Apache authentication for serving Mercurial:
mod_authz_dbd is more flexible. Only available in 2.3+, but I found a version for 2.2 here. Haven't tried it, so YMMV.

In reply to CPOSC Slides:
Hey Doug!
Thanks for speaking! Based on the feedback we've received so far, it sounds like people really enjoyed the conference. I would imagine CPOSC 2009 will be sometime next fall. :)
Re: Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow
In reply to Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow:
Hello, I stumbled upon this entry from an internet search. I had my ulner nerve surgically moved in my right arm 4 years ago. My surgeon told me that it was a common procedure that always went well. I have had serious complications from the surgery, including increased numbness and irritation, leading to an inability to finish school, work most jobs, and complete daily tasks without pain and discomfort. Surgically messing with your nervous system is serious business. Please, please, get a second or third opinion. Pursue physical therapy or other routes that are less invasive before you do something that can affect your health for the rest of your life. Best of luck to you.
Re: CentOS 5 packages available
In reply to CentOS 5 packages available:
ivo, yum is just the same as apt-get. e.g. try yum search packagename
If you don't have a file in your repository you have to do a similar process to find deb files (same as rpm files).
yum isn't nearly as well engineered as apt-get, but it does more or less the same thing.
Re: Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow
In reply to Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow:
Yeah, it definitely did come from years of leaning on my elbow while sitting at a desk (I wouldn't necessarily say while "working" since it's typically while reading blogs and emails ;).
Re: Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow
In reply to Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow:
When we come over to see Jared, you need to show me where it hurt. My elbows have little pains too ... do you think yours came from leaning on your elbow while working?

Fixed, thanks.
Re: WindowsEssentialPrograms
In reply to WindowsEssentialPrograms:
Just note that Shareaza's former homepage was hijacked and now distributes a proprietary application (the so-called ShareazaV4) which connects only to its own network (in fact it's a clone of the RIAA approved iMesh and BearShare). The real, open source Shareaza continues to be actively developed and it's available at http://shareaza.sourceforge.net/
IMHO it would make sense to update the link on this page.

Have a look here, seems like someone has managed to get the data from their Forerunner 50 into Linux.

Re: jabberd2 - not just for kids
In reply to jabberd2 - not just for kids:
Check out my RPM repository here; it has the init script in there:https://rpm.silfreed.net:8002/file/tip/jabberd/
Re: jabberd2 - not just for kids
In reply to jabberd2 - not just for kids:
Hi Silfreed,
I'm very interested in your init.d script.. i'm struggling with writing a nice clean start/stop script (multiple domains/ldap auth running in a vserver) for a few days now, but nothing satisfying so far ;( . Can you please e-mail me a copy of the init.d script or place it online somewhere (maybe it's already there and i overlooked it?!)
Cheers,
Joost
Re: Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow
In reply to Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow:
Yeah, it's outpatient. I just feel stupid for not having it looked at before this became the only option. I need to check out my work environment to make sure things are setup well (like get a chair that the height adjustment works) so I avoid other RSIs.
Re: Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow
In reply to Surgery to Move Ulner Nerve in Left Elbow:
I'm sure it is just minor surgery Doug, so don't worry about it. Maybe you should get a second opinion? Either way, look after it and yourself!

In reply to Argo hard drive upgrade with growing RAID1 array:
Check out this site, it seems to have everything detailed pretty well:http://mkfblog.blogspot.com/2007/11/resizing-raid1-system-partition.html
Re: Argo hard drive upgrade with growing RAID1 array
In reply to Argo hard drive upgrade with growing RAID1 array:
Sorry, it's been awhile since we did this. I think it took a couple hours for each drive, so the process definitely took some time. It's best to be done if you can have someone plug a drive in, wait, do the other drive, etc without having to sit around for the whole process.
Re: Argo hard drive upgrade with growing RAID1 array
In reply to Argo hard drive upgrade with growing RAID1 array:
dudes! you're awesome!!! thank you for posting this. it is EXACTLY what i needed. i am growing a 2x73gb scsi raid1 mirror on CentOs 5.0 to 2x300gb scsi raid1 mirror on a dell 2800. yes, the server is a beast, but oh so durable. never a prob with the hardware at all!
mdadm and resize2fs are totally cool and get around the dell perc gui. i will post back to let you know how i come out. btw, what kind of time did it take you to sync both of the new drives?
